Job Summary:
This position is responsible for the supervision and organization of the Branch 6014 Prime Department including but not limited to:
  • planning, organizing, motivating, and ensuring that subordinates perform their duties based on individual job descriptions/work instructions, production standards, and the Quality Manual
  • Responsible for On-the-Job Training (“OJT”) of subordinates
  • Ensuring order correctness and safe loading of trailers for shipment
  • Safety, organization, cleanliness, and order of the department area(s)
Qualifications:
Must haves for this position:
  • Must be able to distinguish between density and colors of product according to specifications
  • Must have good attendance
  • Be able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and flex schedule as needed
  • Proven Leadership and Management skills; self-motivated and able to motivate others to promote teamwork
  • Strong Math (count) and English skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, MS Word and Outlook
  • Be able to follow both written and verbal work instruction
  • Have good communication skills and be able to work with people within and from different departments in an office and manufacturing environment
  • Be detail oriented and well organized
  • Be able to change tasks, prioritize, and re-prioritize frequently and able to follow-up on work tasks as needed in a timely manner
  • Be able to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift (Up to 50lbs; anything heavier than that should be a two-person lift)
  • Be able to climb stairs and ladders
  • Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when applicable
  • Must have knowledge, experience, and successfully performed in each position/task along with understanding of the use of Forms and Controlled Documents for each position being covered within the department
  • Must be able to work in an uncontrolled temperature environment
  • Forklift Operation required; must obtain and carry a valid certification and adhere to required regulations and training requirements
Primary Duties:
  • Responsible for adjusting the production line as needed to eliminate problems identified in quality checks
  • Responsible for ensuring that product quality is maintained throughout the process and being monitored through the Quality Monitor position
  • Responsible for meeting production goals
  • Responsible for communicating and maintaining the current production hours and break schedules
  • Ensure sufficient material is available for all production runs (correct film for current production run, chemical in tanks etc.)
  • In the event of a major breakdown, immediately notify the Production Manager Trainee, the Assistant Branch Manager and Maintenance.
  • Continually determine opportunities for improvements within the production process
  • Ensure and understand production standards are used at all times; know which characteristics to look for.
  • Must be familiar with and understand the work involved with various positions within the department and be able to perform as needed with guidance from JD, WI, Control Plans, OJT, JHAs for each titled position being performed.
  • Ensure that personnel adhere to the tasks listed in the job descriptions/work instructions for each job title.
  • To communicate any incidents, property damage, safety issues and/or maintenance issues right away to the Production Manager Trainee and Safety Manager.
  • Responsible for the care and cleaning of the assigned machinery and workstation area.
  • Use the chain of command concept with subordinates for clear and effective management
  • Adhere, enforce, and comply with all Leggett & Platt Policies
  • Ensure subordinates clearly understand what is expected
  • Participate in the Disciplinary Committee if necessary
  • Adhere and enforce company rules and regulations
  • Adhere and enforce safety policies
  • Adhere and enforce of the ISO-9001 Quality Manual
  • Initiate, process, and deliver Corrective/Preventive Action of any non-conformances found related to product, process, and the Quality System itself until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected
  • Perform other job functions as assigned and directed by Management

Training, Reviews, and Employee Relations:
  • Responsible for the continuous review of your staff
  • Responsible for Employee Performance Reviews
  • Monitor employee performance and counsel as needed; provide positive feedback when necessary
  • Exemplify a cooperative attitude in order to work effectively with others, including treating staff with respect
  • Encourage employee involvement as to solving problems as a team effort at their level
  • Terminations must be approved by the Branch Manager & Human Resources Committee unless it is a mutual separation, or the employee exceeds the limit of attendance points
  • Adhere to the Leggett & Platt Business Conduct Policy
  • Responsible for all training needed in the Prime department
  • Continually identify and cross train individuals with potential for advancement
  • Responsible for all subordinates having the knowledge and skills to do their job according to the work instructions and job descriptions
  • Ensure proper and adequate notification is given to subordinates for training schedules
  • Review Controlled documents as needed

Reports:
  • Ensure that all reporting/inspections/shift reports are completed accurately and on time
  • Verify timesheets every Monday and turn into payroll department before 11am
  • Any additional reports required by Branch Manager, Division, or Corporate
