PRIMARY DUTIES:                      
         
  • Monitors and adjusts the calender and all accompanying equipment so rubber sheet remains wrinkle-free and at the proper thickness
  • Keeps a record of running speeds, gauge of rubber, and any adjustments made by request of the supervisor or inspector on the “Calender Daily Log” sheet
  • Consults the “Product Specification Sheet” for proper sheeter speeds, backing requirements, and product weights
  • Adjusts water valves (Line 2) or sets digital controls (Line 1) on the calender to ensure proper rubber adhesion to bowls
  • Prepares backing rolls for mounting on machine and performs backing splices when necessary
  • Can safely operate the hoist used to position backing rolls
  • Adjusts rubber sheet width (trim) as directed by the supervisor or inspector
  • Has a working knowledge of the safety devices on the mills and calender
  • Assists the strip feed operator when needed
  • Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards
  • Commitment to ISO9001 and Continuous Improvement
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities related to product, process and the system
  • Identify and/or record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system
